JDE stands for J.D. The J.D. Edwards company continued to release internet-ready ERP solutions under the name OneWorld and other similar names until PeopleSoft® purchased the company out in 2003.
PeopleSoft®, like J.D. Edwards, is the name not only of a software suite intended for businesses for ERP purposes, but also the name of the company behind the software suite. PeopleSoft® purchased the J.D. Edwards name in 2003, but in turn was bought out by Oracle, another ERP software suite producing firm in the year 2005. These software suites are still available under their original branding, as each offers a slightly unique approach to ERP business management, including different modules for human resources management, customer management, payroll processing, inventory ordering and shipping, and many other facets of a business that must be streamlined for efficiency.
