SAP is encouraging partners to increase sales within mobile applications. These partners already sell Business All-in-One ERP suite and Business Objects analytics software, and now SAP is giving these partners the opportunity to offer their customers Sybase mobile technology and applications.
Partners can tell customers about all the same specialized business processes they're used to, but within the context of mobility, according to Friedrich Neumeyer, SAP Senior Vice President Volume Reseller & Service Partners SAP Global Ecosystem & Channels.
Partners will be able to offer customers the Sybase Afaria mobile device management and security toolset, and Unwired mobile development platform and applications that provide access to its Business Suite and CRM software. The Sybase technology can also develop and sell custom services and applications.
"[Mobility] was one of the big focus areas in our planning session last year," said Elliott Garofalo, senior vice president of SME at the Irving, Texas, systems integrator. "We started interviewing a lot of customers and prospects even prior to the Sybase acquisition. Everyone wanted to talk about mobility, even small companies."
In terms of pricing its products, Sybase will be treated as any other SAP product, and partners can purchase them from SAP’s master reseller price list. It was also stated that no royalties will be charged for these products.
According to Neumeyer, SAP will mostly be focusing on building mobile applications with applicability across several industries. It is only sensible that they are making it a large focus among its partners, too.
